SJB seniors Hope Behiri and Adriana Sylvester have received full four-year scholarships through the QuestBridge National College Match program. Hope will study nursing at Boston College with her sights set on becoming a labor and delivery nurse or a physician assistant, while Adriana will study biology at College of the Holy Cross and plans to pursue a career in pediatric physical therapy.
At St. Jean's, Hope is president of the SJB chapter of Glamour Gals, a nonprofit that offers companionship to seniors living in residential care through complimentary beauty makeovers. She is on the soccer and African dance teams, is a peer leader, and has participated in two different internship programs at Lenox Hill Hospital. Adriana is on the varsity basketball team, was a member of Glamour Gals and, through SJB's Christian Service program, volunteers every Wednesday in a pre-K classroom at P.S. 189 in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Both girls are admissions ambassadors at St. Jean's and were selected for the Weill Cornell Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program.
QuestBridge is a national nonprofit that connects high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with leading institutions of higher education. Match Scholarship recipients are admitted early to QuestBridge college partners with a generous financial aid package that covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, housing and food, books and supplies. Out of more than 25,500 applicants, 2,627 students were matched with 52 QuestBridge college partners this year.
Adriana and Hope have been the closest of friends since their sophomore year at St. Jean's and are excited to be going to college only an hour away from each other.
